More old ideas...

Well, since I can't seem to finish the paintings I'm currently working on, I'll post some more old ideas that never materialized. These sketches, done from my head, are from about 4 or 5 years ago. It was right after I completed my studies at Waterstreet and before I thought of the whaling series. I don't even know now why I didn't proceed but I still kind of like it and it may make it's way to my easel yet.

  1. well i think it's a great concept but you'd be hard pressed to find a model willing to pose with a spear in his only good eye. i like your sculpty guys. do you still use maquettes for your figure paintings? i thought about making one for my still life arrangements but then i realized that would be a waste of time. :)

  3. Hi Scott, This is really cool! to see you sharing your thoughts and process. I've followed your blog but never comment. So nows the day.

I love your imagery, for the odyssey am I correct? I guess in a sense it reflects still you fascination for the ocean as the whaling series.

Anyway to make this shorter, is really inspiring to see this and makes me want to go and draw more! All the best, and I love this one about Polyphemous been blinded, just got to love it!!!

  4. Hi Remi,

    I'm so glad you commented!

I thought you might like this kind of post because we've talked about these kind of ideas before. I still really love the sketches you showed me that time (of Ophelia, right?)
Hope you're having a good summer
